The International Registry on Hand and Composite Tissue Transplantation was founded in May 2002 with the primary purpose to collect information from each case of vascularized composite allotransplantation (VCA), as it allows us to leverage our individual experience and learn from all centers involved.

CTA/VCA means simultaneous transplantation of skin, connective tissue, muscles, bones, nerves, vasculature, bone marrow and these multiple tissues are of ectodermal and mesodermal origin. At the same time these tissues are transplanted as a single functional unit from a deceased donor to a recipient, like a solid organ.

About IRHCTT Registry

The International Registry on Hand and Composite Tissue Transplantation was founded in May 2002 with the primary purpose to collect information from each case of vascularized composite allotransplantation (VCA), as it allows us to leverage our individual experience and learn from all centers involved. Presently the IRHCTT includes cases of upper extremity and face allotransplantation performed all over the world, from almost all centers performing these operations. A very comprehensive dataset is available for each patient in the registry including annual follow-up. The IRHCTT is happy to collaborate and supply anonymized data about transplant recipients to those who contribute. The aim of the registry is to combine international clinical experiences so that state of the art knowledge can be shared within those already working or approaching this surgical field.
